We have a mission to help people become more like Christ through authentic relationships, Bible based teaching, experiential worship, and serving others. We seek to provide everyone who attends Journey with an opportunity to meet God by inviting them to come as they are.
Jim and Jennifer Wilkes are the Lead Pastors of Journey Church. Since starting Journey in 2009 they’ve had a simple desire to see each person take one more step towards God and towards serving others. Their mission is to help the local church love and serve their communities to become vehicles for life change in their city. Jim and Jennifer have been married for 16 years and have two amazing children, Joshua and Joel.
We believe the church is a family. We love to welcome people home. Our passion is to help everyone take their next step toward loving God more and loving more people. We believe Jesus is The Way. We believe the Holy Spirit is The Truth. We believe God is The Light.
We believe the Bible, in its original language, is the infallible, inspired, authoritative, and inerrant Word of God. We commit to teaching Biblical truth each time we gather because we believe it is effective for instructing, reproof, correction, and training in the ways of righteousness, that we may be equipped for every good work.
We believe Jesus Christ sits at the right hand of God and acts as a mediator on behalf of those who call and believe on His name. Therefore, we believe God hears our prayers and seeks for us to call upon Him. Through prayer, we believe our relationship with God is strengthened and deepened, and we are invited to participate with what He is doing on the earth.
We believe God has given His people the community of believers to strengthen, equip, resource, and spur one another on toward love and good works. We see community as necessary for true biblical discipleship and believe it is our responsibility to help encourage followers of Christ to enter into biblical community with one another.
We believe that God is the one and only true God, eternally existent in three persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. God the Father begot Jesus Christ who paid for the sins of man through His substitutionary death on the cross. He was raised three days later through the power of the Holy Spirit. This same Holy Spirit now empowers followers of Christ.
We believe that all men have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God and thereby are in need of a savior. We are saved by grace, through faith in Jesus Christ; His death, burial, and resurrection. Salvation is a gift from God through the substitutionary atonement of Jesus Christ, and not a result of good works or any human effort.
We believe that all of creation is called to worship the one true God, in spirit and in truth. When God’s people gather together in worship, we believe God’s presence visits His people through the power of the Holy Spirit. His presence is the only catalyst for authentic life change and it is only through His Son, Jesus Christ; that we have access to Him. During worship, we believe that the Holy Spirit may choose to work in peoples live through spiritual gifts in an orderly and purposeful manner for the building up of the body of Christ.
