Embracing Love

Day: 16

Scripture

Colossians 3:12-14

Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Main Idea

Colossians 3:12-14 It’s all about how we live out our faith through love. Let’s get into it! "Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony." Isn’t that powerful? It’s like we’re being called to put on these amazing qualities every day. Imagine starting your day by wrapping yourself in compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. It's not always easy, But it's what we're called to do. And here's the thing about forgiveness - it's tough, right? But it's also freeing. Forgiving someone isn't just about them; it's about letting ourselves live without the weight of grudges. It's about living in the freedom of God's grace. But the key ingredient here, the one that holds everything together, is love. Love is like the glue that binds all these virtues. Without love, they're just... individual qualities. But with love, they come together in this beautiful harmony. That's what God wants for us – to live in perfect unity, bound together by love. So, we want to challenge each of us today. Let’s make a conscious effort to 'clothe' ourselves in these virtues. Let's live out this scripture, not just as words on a page, but as a daily, lived reality.

God wants for us to live in perfect unity, bound together by love.

Application

Is there someone in your life you need to forgive? Do you need to receive forgiveness in an area of your life? Take time to quiet yourself and ask the Lord to forgive you. Then ask Him to help you to forgive others.

Prayer

Heavenly Father, thank You for Your love and Your grace. Help us to embody compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Teach us to forgive as You have forgiven us and to bind all these virtues together with love. Help us to live in unity, reflecting Your love in all we do. Amen.
