Health

Day: 8

Scripture

1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.

Main Idea

Today we are going to look at God’s perspective on health and nurturing our bodies. In 1 Corinthians 6, the Apostle Paul reminds us, "Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. So glorify God in your body." Our bodies are not merely vessels, but sacred temples indwelled by the very Spirit of God. In other words, God finds his home in us. Psalm 103:2-5 beautifully expresses God's heart for our well-being: "Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies your desires with good things so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's." God forgives, heals, redeems, crowns, blesses and satisfies us with health and strength. Our heavenly Father desires our health and wholeness. As we continue on this 21-day journey of prayer and fasting, let it be a time of not only spiritual renewal but also a commitment to stewarding our bodies in alignment with God's word. In 2024, let’s commit to honoring God with how we pursue health. This is not only limited to our physical health, but our mental health as well.

Our bodies are not merely vessels, but sacred temples indwelled by the very Spirit of God. In other words, God finds his home in us.

Application

Prioritize your mental health by getting in the daily habit of practicing journaling or engaging in activities that give you life. Commit to one habit and share it with a friend for accountability. How can you better take care of your physical body? This does not have to be limited to nutrition or exercise. It can include your stress levels, sleep schedule, or daily routines.

Prayer

Jesus, thank you that it’s your desire that we be healthy in every area. Help us to remember that we are your vessels and you desire to make your home in us. Help us to embrace wisdom with our mental health, physical health, our rest, and our daily routines. We pray that you may renew our strength leading us into the health you desire for us. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.
