Peace

Day: 2

Scripture

Isaiah 26:3

You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.

Main Idea

Our world seems to be filled with everything that is the exact opposite of peace: Fear, anxiety, anger, depression. But in Isaiah 26:3, we’re told: “You will keep those in perfect peace whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.” This verse shows us that peace isn’t just an emotion. If it were, we could provide our own. But it’s impossible to produce something so wonderful as perfect peace. Thankfully, God doesn’t expect us to do that. Isaiah says that God provides the perfect peace we long for. But that doesn’t mean we don’t have a part to play. God’s peace is conditional. Isaiah places two prerequisites in this verse; He says that God keeps us in His peace when our minds are fixed on Him and when we trust in Him. This means that peace is always predicated on trust. So, if we want to see an increase of God’s peace in our lives, we need to increase our level of trust.

God keeps us in His peace when our minds are fixed on Him and when we trust in Him.

Application

Is it difficult for you to put your trust in God? If so, why is that? What are things in your life that are robbing you of peace?

Prayer

God, we thank you for your perfect peace and we want to walk in it on a daily basis. Would you help us to trust in you so that our minds stay focused on you? Thank you that no matter what is going on around us, we can trust you, have our minds focused on Jesus, and walk in the peace your Spirit gives. We receive Your peace today. Amen!
