Hope in the Hard Places
Day: 19
Scripture
Romans 12:12
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
Main Idea
Not all of us grew up in church or had the opportunity to learn about Jesus and the Hope found in Him through Sunday school. On the contrary, our landscape of hope felt barren. But here's the thing - when we came to faith, we collectively understood what this 'rejoicing in hope' is all about. It's not about ignoring reality; it's about seeing beyond it to what God can do when we, as a community, let go of the wheel. Being patient in tough times –this is where your faith and hope are put to the test. I've seen my share of dark days, and patience didn't come easy. But I learned it's in these hard places that hope gets its strength. It's not about waiting passively; it's about enduring actively, with an eye on what God’s up to. And the part about being constant in prayer – that’s the key. Prayer isn’t a last resort; it’s the first line of defense. It's in those honest, raw talks with God that I found a hope that doesn't waver, even when everything else does. So here's our challenge for you: Find hope in your situation. It might not change overnight, but with hope, you start seeing things differently, there's a shift in perspective that needs to happen. Stay patient, no matter the storm, and keep talking to God. He’s listening. Remember, hope is a powerful thing – it can change how you see your world so keep holding onto it.
Stay patient, no matter the storm, and keep talking to God. He’s listening.
Application
What people and/or situations are helping to develop patience in your life? Hope is not wishful thinking. It means being sure of something that is on the way but isn’t here yet. What would it look like for you to have hope in these situations?
Prayer
Father, we thank You for the hope You give us. Help us to rejoice in it, to embrace patience in our challenges, and to stay constant in our dialogue with You. Your hope is our strength. Amen.
